Moana a Disney film movie who talks about a girl who wants to sail into the sea but avoided by her father, which is a chief in their land. I have a theory that this would be another Disney princess in the fact that most of their protagonists in the movie is always a girl. It is very unusual that the protagonists in Disney film is a boy; it is always a girl. Well after I watched beginning of the movie, my theory is right

Moana is a chief daughter and soon to be the chief of their land at the right time, but there something missing in her life. She always want to sail wider, passing the reef of the sea but his father has one rule in order to protect them from danger; he forbids anyone to go beyond the reef.

Te Fiti by the way, is the mother of all island, she has a power to create life. They want the power of Te Fiti by stealing its heart in order to obtain a power of create life. One of it is Maui, a demigod trickster and a shapeshifter using his special hook and stole the heart of Te Fiti. Because of what he did, a new monster is born named, Te-ka, a lava demon of fire and earth, fought Maui and his hook along with the heart is lost in the depths of the sea. There is this legend, in which someone will be hero bring back the heart to Te Fiti and restore nature from withering. That someone is Moana, she is the “Chosen One” of the sea; she will be the one to restore the heart of Te Fiti and save them all.

How Moana did became a hero? Well first, Moana is somewhat little girl at that time and there is a baby turtle who wants to go to the sea but the crows forbids it and tries to eat it before reaching into the sea. Moana saw what is happening and protects the sea turtle until it reaches the sea. For that, the sea might have chosen Moana because of the way she acted as the “protector” of the baby sea turtle. Never knew a simple help could be bigger “thanks” to others, and that’s why the sea introduces himself and gave the heart to Moana.

Before she knew that she is a hero, there are certain problems se encountered as a chief in her land. First the coconuts, who are a good source of sweet water are burned nor out of juice. But she managed to pull it off and gave it a solution. Next the fisherman are not be able to catch any single fish at the sea. She came up with a solution but her father is not happy about it. She disobey her father and he tries to sail pass the reef for the very first time. She thought it was easy, but I think the sea did it on purpose not letting anyone, even Moana in the reef. I just know it, more like I think it’s not the right moment to let the sea pass her alive, but Moana fail to do it and manage to get in the sea shore barely.

At first, being the “chosen one” is not easy as she thought; even though the sea is in her side she almost died when she will about to get Maui on board. Because of how persuasive Moana is, she managed to help Maui to get on board and sail for the Island of Te Fiti. There is problems along the way but Moana manage all of it and bravely went to the island even if Maui don’t want to fight that demon in their first try.

Finally, the plot twists are unexpected at all. First Maui, who is a demigod stole the heart of Te Fiti not to himself, but to give to the humans in order, they too will have a power to create. Second, Maui, who Moana expects not to come back because of his hook, managed to fight alongside of Moana, even though his hook is about to break. Third, never knew that Te-ka, the demon who Moana and Maui fought, is the island of Te Fiti itself. I think Te Fiti becomes demon-like if his heart is stolen from her, because that heart has a power to create life. I think without it, she too will wither. I think the lava demon represents the anger or hunger of power, more like a protector for the island that was supposed to be hers. The way the lava demon reacts when Moana takes charge to the island; for me it’s quite mysterious the way Te-ka reacted even though Moana and Maui tries to give the heart back. Thanks to Moana, she saved the other island from withering, and because of her and Maui the culture of the people will now be back as voyagers I island after island.

I rated this movie 10/10 because of how awesome the graphics and the sound effects harmonize in every scenes. Especially the song of “How far I’ll go” originally sang by Alessia Cara has different versions of it. Moana’s voice actor has a chance to sing that song in her way. And Janella Salvador, who sang Disney’s “How far I’ll go” as representative in English among the 4 other languages. Never knew that this movie will attract so much audiences in different age groups not because of all the productions movie but because the lessons we can learn from it. I salute them for making a good job for the outcome of this movie. I hope Disney will create more inspired movie which all of the audiences will learn and enjoy.
